Running Update

Filed under: Fitness — caroline @ 8:07 pm

So I’ve been back at the gym for the last 3 weeks, and have now got a shin splint!!! Honestly!!!!!

So been hitting up the cross trainer and rower instead…stamina is getting better but still have a way to go I guess.

The way I’m making it sound, its as if I’m training for the Olympics, but honest to god, this 5k run is something I’m not used to doing…if anything I can do 20mins at the most and that’s not even on the roads.

I’ve raised £150 at the moment. The target I said I could reach for Christian Aid was £200 but as I’m so close to that now, I’ve increased it to £350.

Hopefully I know a lot of generous people out there that will help me reach this target.

If you haven’t got a clue what I’m talking about, click on the image in the sidebar of this blog. ;)

If anything can, Canon can!

Canon 350D

For so long I’ve been an advocate for film over digital when it comes to SLR cameras. The whole process of going into a darkroom and seeing your photos coming up on the paper…nothing can beat that!!!

I’ve always dreamt of coming home and going into my darkroom, switching on the infrared light and seeing my photos hanging on the line.

However, having a digital camera is most handy when you’re wanting the photos quickly! God knows how I would have survived my travels if I didn’t have my digital camera on my. Unfortunately, there is only so much a compact camera can actually do, and I do prefer having the SLR.

Having looked around at the Canon cameras out there (and as I already have some lenses from before), the 350d is the one that seems to be within my budget. It boasts a 8mp sizing for photos, which to me seems a bit extreme, but for the money spent, I can’t get a better deal really.

New Theme

Filed under: General — caroline @ 7:10 pm

After much inspiration from ye olde Conway, I’ve been combing the web for decent themes, and came across this one provided by Bluemountain.

There are a few glitches in firefox at present as I seem to have an overlap of categories, but otherwise I is quite content with this for now.

God bless the peeps out there that have the time to create these things for us lazy good for nothing wordpress bloggers. Without you, we’d be stuck with a very very dull looking set of blogs indeed!!!!!

Accessibility & Usability

Filed under: Accessibility — caroline @ 3:51 pm

I’ll be attending some FREE seminars this week at Earls Court for Internet World 2006 on web accessibility and usability.

The next project we’ll be dealing with at work is to make the site more accessible. Right now there is a lot that needs to be done, but all should be cool.

I’m not sure whether to follow the guidelines off that exist at present or follow what’s in WCAG 2.0 but it’ll make for some interesting if not long reading…god bless the w3…it sure is a good site to read up on if you’re suffering from insomnia ;)

Time to tidy things up

Filed under: General — caroline @ 8:57 pm

I’ve decided that I need to carry out a redesign for my website…or at least make it a bit more cleaner code wise (yes I am that much of a geek!!!) So for those that even have the slightest bit of interest in me, I’m taking my site down for a bit.

Been very hectic with work and keeping up to date with the web development and design world has been hard, but I’m slowly getting back into it.

Keep posted for updates on this soon.
